Heather M. O’Connor is an award-winning children’s author based in Peterborough, Ontario. Her heartwarming picture book FAST FRIENDS, published by Scholastic Canada, was the 2022 TD Grade One Book Giveaway and the winner of the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Award. The characters returned for another speedy-quick adventure in FRIENDS FIND A WAY.
Heather has also coauthored two picture books about the Ojibwe Horse with Darcy Whitecrow. ACROSS THE ICE: HOW WE SAVED THE OJIBWE HORSE comes out in Fall 2025 with Candlewick Press. Their dual-language picture book RUNS WITH THE STARS / WIIJIBIBAMATOON ANANGOONAN was published in 2022 by Second Story Press.
Heather also wrote the YA soccer novel BETTING GAME.
Heather enjoys visiting schools, libraries, book clubs and writing groups. As a member of the Writers’ Union of Canada, she is eligible for the Ontario Writers in the Schools Program and National Public Readings Program.
