I’m not just an author. I’m also a freelance journalist. I’ve written hundreds of feature stories for national and regional magazines and newspapers, like the Toronto Sun and Canadian Architecture and Design.
One job I especially enjoy is writing news stories for Currents4Kids, What in the World and The Canadian Reader. These graded reading level curriculum resources print the news that kids want to learn about. Sunken treasure and Star Wars. Cool kids and cloning dinosaurs. From sports to science and everything in between.
They’re published by LesPlan, a Canadian company based in British Columbia.
I’ve also written short stories, including:
- “Buried in the Green,” which appeared in the Urban Green Man anthology. It was nominated for 4 Prix Aurora Prizes.
- “One Foot in the Grave,” which received honourable mention in the 9th Annual Geist Literal Literary Postcard Story Contest.
I published my first work back in 2002, a trio of titles for Nelson Canada’s InfoRead series. They’re still in print!:
